Hibiscus & Blood Orange Vodka Club
Simple Syrup Ingredients:
2 blood oranges cut into cubes rind and all
2 tablespoons Ceylon cinnamon
1/4 cup hibiscus flower
1/4 cup of echinacea
2 cups water
1 cup light brown sugar
Instructions:
Cut Oranges into wedges or cubes
Add fruit, herbs, flowers, cinnamon, and dry ingredients to a pot or saucepan with 1/2 cup of water to start and put on medium
Let everything caramelize for about 3 mins stirring regularly as not to burn
Add rest of water ...1 cup ...turn to high
When it starts to simmer Add the 1 cup lt brown sugar and stir for 30 seconds
Reduce to medium heat and let it simmer on low for 10 to 12 mins or until liquid becomes thicker and is reduced to 1 to 1.5 cups
After 12 mins Let cool then strain with cheesecloth, coffee filter, or strainer, and squeeze fruit and contents out into a jar.
Drink Recipe:
1.5 to 2 oz vodka
1 oz hibiscus/blood orange simple syrup
1/2 oz lemon juice or squeeze of 1 lemon wedge
Fill with Ice & Shake in cocktail shaker
Fill with pellegrino
Strain or serve over ice
Garnish with Hibiscus brown sugar rim and dehydrated blood orange slice
